Hu Jiaqi, famous anthropologist: potential crisis of gene editing

American media reports that the Harvard Stem Cell Institute plans to edit human sperm cells on December 7. They intend to foster test-tube babies who are less likely to get Alzheimer's disease by editing ApoE gene in cells. It's only ten days after the world's first genetically edited baby’s birth. They can cultivate seedless watermelon and grape, letting the frog grow six eyes. They can keep mice from having long tails. All this is the achievement of gene reconstruction technology.” Finally, the scalpel reaches to human beings.

We learn from Jiaqi Hu’s interview: the exposed gene editing project at present is to improve human health and cure genetic diseases. But the potentially powerful interest chain behind it cannot be ignored.
